Kimberley Chin

Acting Executive Director

Kimberley Chin is the Acting Executive Director at the Children’s Defense Fund – New York (CDF-NY). Ms. Chin was most recently the Director of Public/Private Partnerships at the NYC Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) where she strengthened partnerships and leveraged funding for New York City’s children.  Before joining ACS, Ms. Chin was an Atlantic Philanthropies Senior Visiting Fellow at Fordham Law School’s Feerick Center for Social Justice focused on economic justice and equity issues.  While at Atlantic Philanthropies from 2010-2014, Ms. Chin served as the Programme Executive overseeing a $50 million portfolio focused on children’s health ensuring that children gained access to health insurance coverage.  Prior to joining the Atlantic Philanthropies, Ms. Chin was the founding director of Maryland Hunger Solutions, an initiative of the Food Research and Action Center (FRAC).  Before founding Maryland Hunger Solutions, Ms. Chin held several positions at the Children’s Defense Fund (CDF), both nationally and in the New York office — including coordinating immigration, children’s health and tax benefits projects.  Previously, Ms. Chin worked at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities in Washington D.C. on issues related to children’s health insurance access and income supports for families and was an attorney in the HIV/AIDS unit at South Brooklyn Legal Services in New York City.  Ms. Chin received her MPA from New York University and her law degree from Fordham University in New York City.
